Perhaps this was her first character and she got better with practice. Nalini Singh steps back into the shadows of her heartbreakingly original world where angels rule, vampires serve, and the innocent can pay the greatest price of all.Vampire hunter Elena Deveraux and her lover, the lethally beautiful archangel Rap. The author must have gotten better as a writer, I see lots of her books offered on Audible. What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment? She has no humor when the characters call for humor, and no real pause when shifting from one subject to the next. Someone who could give more voice to the characters.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Justine Eyre? What do you think your next listen will be? It's exhausting! This book was so predictable, and unsatisfying that I won't continue with the rest in the series. I thought by the third book, more of the story line would unfold, but the heroin continues to have daddy issues, and every time the actual story starts to be told, the main characters devolve into sex for the remainder of the chapter. This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
